01 Festival Puccini

This evening the “curtain” rises on the Puccini Festival with Tosca. 14 evenings with the great Puccini classics, this is the only opera festival in the world totally dedicated to the composer Giacomo Puccini, who lived here in Torre del Lago for over thirty years.

02 Staging the Bohème

The Puccini Festival takes places every summer during the months of July and August. Established in 1930, over the years the Festival has become an increasingly prestigious event which attracts tens of thousands of spectators from all over the world. Today a great open air theatre with 3,400 seats sitting on the Massaciuccoli Lake welcomes melomaniacs.

Torre del Lago also boasts a park of extraordinary charm that houses works of art by great contemporary sculptors such as Pietro Cascella, Jean-Michel Folon and Kan Yasuda, to name just a few. This is one of Versilia’s most renowned localities and enjoys a perfect position between the Lake of Massaciuccoli and the Tyrrhenian sea, at only 4 km (2.5 miles) from the beaches of Viareggio and 18 km (11 miles) from Pisa and Lucca, Puccini’s birthplace.
