In an open territory between Gambassi Terme and Montaione, in the centre of Tuscany, lies the Benestare Park. The park represents a link between the two towns, their history and their culture, as well as binding them together in an extraordinarily beautiful landscape. Here visitors have the possibility to admire both the natural beauties as well as the historical sites.
Two loop trails inside the park lead sightseers to thermal springs, geological outcrops, cinnabar and gypsum quarries, old aqueducts, and wonderful views. Here one gets into touch with the whole landscape and savours the emotions only this territory can give.
The itineraries also lead to sights of inestimable cultural value such as the amazing Convent of San Vivaldo, renowned for the dozens of chapels scattered around the complex which earned the place the name of Little Jerusalem. Otherwise they lead to a healthy site such as the Spa of Gambassi Terme or to the enchanting Romanesque parish church of Santa Maria in Chianni.
Whether one chooses to go on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback, a visit to this park is truly an unforgettable experience, and this is one of the reasons we highly recommend a holiday to this part of the region. Montaione, in fact, boasts an ideal position for visiting most Tuscan art centres and tiny medieval villages, or simply travelling around this lovely countryside with its softly rolling hills covered in vineyards and olive groves. Possibly enjoying the hospitality of one of our holiday accommodations in Montaione.
