A holiday in Tuscany means a plunge into an unspoilt countryside. The accommodations that Tuscany Holiday Rent offers are often holiday homes or villas to rent far from the madding crowd where it is easy to taste simple things, live a gentle and slow life. Why not choose one of our best Chianti accommodations in the province of Siena? There you will be able to share a real feeling with the land in a secluded spot but, if you like, you might, as well, take part to the many great summer events taking place in San Galgano Abbey, Chiusdino, thus discovering a small village rich in summer cultural events.
This summer the Opera Festival, a long standing organization involved in the production of great events, will stage the Traviata by Verdi in Saint Galgano Abbey, Chiusdino on July the 30th and on August the 6th and the 13th 2011. On the occasion the roofless gothic Cirstercian church, full of mystery will become a magical theatre, hosting 800 people ready to enjoy Verdi’s masterwork. The direction of the opera in such evocative framework is by Beppe De Tomasi, a master acknowledged by the greatest opera theatres in the world. Thanks to his imagination, conjuring up the splendours of a 19th century staging, glittering with golden stucco works, the director has set up a lavish Traviata. The opera gets contaminated with cinema through continuous flashbacks. On the other end De Tomasi is not new to cinematic techniques. His past collaboration with Coppola’s Godfather as far as the episode of the Cavalleria Rusticana is concerned springs back to the surface.
The schedule of Opera festival includes also other great concerts such as Carmina Burana by Orff, a strongly emotional event for 2 pianos, percussions and white voice chorus and Le Stagioni by A. Vivaldi with Lorenzo Fuoco’s solo violin. Also a tribute is devoted to ballet with Swan Lake by Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskij
